A Special Power of Attorney (SPA) authorizes someone to act for you in a specific matter: selling or leasing property, claiming documents, processing a bank transaction, representing you before a government office or managing a case. A General Power of Attorney grants broader authority. In the Philippines, an SPA is required for many acts of strict ownership, such as selling real property.
If you sign the SPA in the Philippines, it must be notarized, and if it will be used abroad, apostilled or legalized as well. If you are abroad, particularly as an OFW, the SPA is signed before a local notary and apostilled, or executed at a Philippine embassy or consulate. We draft the SPA with wording that registries, banks and agencies accept, translate it where needed, and take care of every certification step.

Frequently asked questions
I am an OFW. How can I give someone in the Philippines authority to act for me?
Sign the SPA before a notary in your host country and have it apostilled there (if that country is an apostille country), or execute it at the Philippine embassy or consulate. We can draft the SPA in advance and send it to you ready to sign.
What is the difference between an SPA and a GPA?
An SPA covers specific, listed acts. A General Power of Attorney covers acts of administration in general. For selling property and similar acts of strict ownership, Philippine law requires a special power.
Can an SPA be written in two languages?
Yes. For use abroad we often prepare a bilingual SPA, or a certified translation attached to the original, depending on what the receiving authority accepts.
