A certified true copy (CTC) is a copy of a document that an authorized official has certified as identical to the original. Authorities abroad and in the Philippines often ask for a CTC instead of your only original, especially for court decisions, land titles, corporate records and school records.
The right way to obtain a CTC depends on the document. For public records, the CTC must come from the office that keeps the original: the court, the Registry of Deeds, the SEC, the Local Civil Registrar or the school. For private documents, a notary public may perform a copy certification. Frequently asked questions
Can a notary certify a copy of my PSA certificate?
No. PSA certificates are public records; an official copy must be requested from the PSA, or a certified copy of the local record from the Local Civil Registrar. We can request either for you.
Can a certified true copy be apostilled?
Yes, as long as the CTC is issued and signed by an authorized official whose signature can be verified by the DFA. We check this before filing.
Do I need to be present to request a CTC?
Usually not. Most offices accept requests through an authorized representative with an authorization letter or SPA and copies of IDs. Some records are restricted to the owner or parties, and we let you know in advance.
